Happy Horsing to you all. I realize that I've not kept up the blogging like I first intended to, but I'm going to try to do better in that area. That's a goal for me to work for in the coming months.
Well, here it is the middle, well.....almost the end, of April. I just can't believe how fast time is flying by. As I look back over my previous blogs, I can't believe how many of them are centered around the weather. At first I began to think I might be obsessed about it, but then I realized........I am obsessed about it. hehehe You see, when your life is centered around a horse world, the weather is a big deal. Not enough rain, no grass. Too much rain, bugs ! Too cold, throwing hay. Too hot........well, just too hot. hehehe So, I don't mind keeping an eye on the sky, and the weather channel. It keeps me better able to handle horsey stuff.
Now, moving right along. I'm going to try to take a different path today. I've been dealing with some age related issues, and so has Majik. So, I need some feedback from all of my horsey friends. My thoughts are about retirement. Oh, not me ! But more of "horse retirement". What do you guys think of when you think of a horse being too old ? What are your thoughts on horse retirement ? As a lot of you know, Majik will be 25 years old next month, and he too has had some age related issues over the last couple of years. Last year he lost a good bit of weight over the winter, and choked in the spring. It took most of the summer and fall to get him back in shape. This spring, we had a really close call with some early signs of laminitis. (by the way, he was not happy with the muzzle). I'm just needing some of you guys to chime in on some things that you would consider when deciding whether to "retire" your horse to being a big, happy pasture ornament, and how long I might expect to be able to continue riding "The Best Horse in the World", aka: Majik. (hehehe)
I suppose I'll be checking in to see if anyone sends me their thoughts, and we'll go from there. If not, just keep on keepin' on. Till next time......................
I hope that this winter and spring has treated you all very well. Apparently it has treated me well, or went by so fast that I missed a bunch of it. We're all faring quite well these days. The weather warmed up so early here in the south. I think we've been about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than normal for the last month or so. Of course I'm hoping that means we'll have a cooler than normal summer. (hehehe)
Here it is Easter Sunday, and I realize that I've been out of touch with you guys for over a month. I just thought I'd catch up a bit with ya. Majik is wonderful, (was there any doubt ?) He didn't lose any weight over the cold months, and I'm hoping that in a couple of more weeks, he will have lost most of his thick fur. Right now he's pretty much looking mangy. hehehe He always does. He gets such a thick winter coat every year. The first to wooly up, and the last to lose it. Always has, so I don't think it's his age. Angel, well...............she has her days, but for the most part, she's really coming along fine. So far no signs of allergies this year. I'm feeding her garlic with her feed every morning, and so far, so good. I'll pop some pics of her on her page in the next few days and give you a full update on there.
In the meantime, I'll just keep on horsing around. Hope you guys all have a safe and blessed Easter and enjoy the rest of the warm days ahead.
Till next time:
