I have stumbled on some truly exciting information and I can't think of anyone I'd rather share it with. You all know that I've lovingly referred to Majik as "The Best Horse In The World" many, many times. It's become his nickname, and I do believe it to be true. Sitting here on my sofa, obviously with nothing better to do than probe into the computer, I decided to look up Majik and Angel's bloodlines. I've known since day 1 that Angel had a few World Grand Champions in her bloodline, but had never really dug into Majik's. Today I did. I've sat here in shock and cried with sheer pride. I feel like my child has just won some type of distinguishing award. (lol) Let me explain.......................if you can tolerate a bit of TW history. The Tennessee Walker originated from the Narragansett Pacer and the Canadian Pacer in the late 18th century. TN breeders were working toward a horse which could be ridden comfortably all day over the varied terrain of the large plantations. Confederate Pacer and Union Trotter blood was added during the Civil War, creating the sturdy Southern Plantation Horse (aka the Tennessee Pacer). Breeders later added Thoroughbred, Standardbred, Morgan, and American Saddlebred blood to refine and add stamina to their gaited horse.
In 1885, Black Allen (later known as Allan F-1 was born. By the stallion Allendorf and out of a Morgan mare named Maggie Marshall. He became the foundation sire of the Tennessee Walking Horse breed. The registry was formed in 1935. As the stud book was closed in 1947, since that date, every Tennessee Walker must have both parents registered to be eligible for registration. Still not excited ? Ok..............try this one on..............as I began plugging in the info on Majik's registration papers, Allen F-1 is Majik's great, great, great, great grandfather. Way cool ! 1885 Allen F-1 was born, and in 1904 he sired Roan Allen, then in 1925 Roan Allen sired Merry Boy, who sired Merry Walker in 1939. As I digress down this path, the line continues from Merry Walker in 1955 as Roger's Perfection was born, and he in turn sired Gills Carbon Copy in 1960. This stud sired Mark of Carbon which I don't have the date of foal for, but Mark of Carbon was the sire of Mr. Master Mark, who sired Majik. Majik was born on May 23rd, 1987 and his registered name is Mr. Marks Masterpiece.
I know, I know...........proud momma's bragging about their awesome child ! Yep ! May 23rd, 2012...........Happy 25th Birthday to the most AWESOME horse ever ! ! ! ! !
