Hey guys, I know you've listened to my many stories of Majik, aka: The Best Horse in the World. It is with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you that Majik died last Wednesday afternoon. (April 17th, 2013). He was my best friend, my confidant, and the best riding horse I've ever sat on. I have, on many occasions, said that he taught me everything I know, and there is some truth to that statement. When he took that last breath, a little part of me died with him. He and I were truly a team. Not only have I lost my best friend, but the world has lost a majestic and beautiful spirit. I'm very proud to have owned and loved this special horse. He will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
It's been a long and very dreary winter this year. Not a terribly cold winter, but too cold, wet, and dreary to get out and do anything. I think that may be the main reason I am looking so forward to this weekend. A much needed trail ride. A time of friendship, fellowship, horses, and sunshine. It just doesn't get any better than that. I have found, over the years, that "horse people" are as unique as each of their horses, and just a lot of fun to be around.
As much fun as it will be, there's also the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes from knowing that we are doing a great thing. Arthritis affects 50 million adults, (that's 1 in 5), and 300,000 children in our country. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in our country. The Arthritis Foundation is raising awareness and reducing the unacceptable impact of arthritis. It's good to know that for every dollar donated to the Arthritis Foundation, more than 75 cents goes directly to fund research and interventions for people with arthritis. Each year I participate in the Arthritis Walk in Montgomery, AL to help raise money for the Foundation. This year, the trail ride will be my main fund raiser. "Horse people" have always rallied together for a great cause, and I know that we will accomplish much as we come together this Saturday, and we'll have fun doing it !
I want to take a minute to thank you all in advance, for participating in this event, and to K lazy B Farm for being a HUGE part in that participation. None of this would be possible without you.
See y'all Saturday ! : )
Happy Horsing Y'all,
Like most horse owners,
