I'm going to try to put my thoughts down tonight without going on and on about the weather. I realize I spend a lot of time discussing weather related horse issues. However, tonight I want to give credit to a wonderful and much needed profession. Farrier ! In my opinion, the most important professional in your horses life. I know, the vet is right up there in the top 2 or 3, but I place my farrier in the # 1 position. Pictured here, Shane Roland, my farrier. He comes to D&R Farms every 3 weeks to farrier our horses. Besides the much needed foot health that he's up on, he also has such a broad knowledge base on horse health. When things happen to Angel, I call Shane. He's also a top notch trainer. I've ridden several horses that he's trained for different people, and used him to train Angel for pleasure riding. He continues, with each visit, to give me pointers on how to "fine tune" her training and corrects me when I'm doing something wrong. He doesn't just tell me what to do, he actually takes time out and shows me what to work on and how to do it. His advice and expertise is much appreciated.
Thank you Shane for all you do,
Joyce and Angel
